Celebrate Lost Chord’s 20th birthday at the Vitality Big Half!

LEADING South Yorkshire dementia charity Lost Chord has been awarded 20 places in one of the country’s biggest half marathon events.

Vitality Big Half London Marathon 2019The second Vitality Big Half, created by London Marathon Events Ltd in partnership with Sported, is a one day festival centred around a half marathon event. And as Lost Chord prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary, it has been awarded 20 places in the event, which will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2019.

The half marathon starts at Tower Bridge and finishes in Greenwich, passing through the boroughs of Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Lewisham and Greenwich and including some of the capital’s most famous sites on its way to the finish line at the Vitality Big Festival, a celebration of London’s diverse culture, food and music which will take place throughout the day in Greenwich Park.

“As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we are truly thrilled to have been awarded 20 places at this great event,” said Lost Chord Chief Executive Helena Muller.

Lost Chord is the charity that for two decades now has been providing vital interactive musical experiences for people living with dementia in care homes and day centres across the region and nationally.

“With 20 runners taking part, we can do some serious fundraising and make a real difference to the lives of people living with dementia,” said Helena.

Music can and does have the most incredible effect on people living with dementia.

“It reaches into their very souls and is the key that unlocks the door behind which a frightened, intimidated and humiliated person hides.

“All our runners will know that with every step they take they will be making a very real difference to the lives of many people whose lives will be touched by our programme of musical events, all provided by Lost Chord’s professional musicians.”
