How much do the sessions cost?
Lost Chord UK asks for a minimum contribution towards the costs of each 45 minute to 1 hour session. This contribution varies in accordance to where in the UK your home is situated – Outside the Home Counties: £65
Inside the Home Counties* and London: £75
(*Berkshire, Essex, Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, East Sussex and West Sussex.)
With effect from 1st April we will also be adding the ULEZ and congestion charge for any home that lies within those zones. Please note that the ULEZ zone is extending in August 2023. These additional charges will be added to your next invoice once the Musicians have completed their invoice to LCUK and will be divided between the number of homes visited in the zone on that day. LCUK only charges and only reimburses the ULEZ/Congestion charge to the musician on production of a valid receipt.
The true cost of each session is approximately £200, so we have to raise a minimum of £135 for every single session that we provide. Even with constant grant applications, donations and fundraising, Lost Chord UK simply has to ask for a minimum contribution. Ultimately we would love to be in a situation where we can offer every care home an entirely subsidised session but without massive investment this is simply not possible.
‘”My husband has severe dementia and cannot recall that he was once a gifted musician. Only on the visits of Lost Chord is there an intelligent glimmer in his eyes and he may gently conduct a few bars. Occasionally the music prompts him to ask me to dance. Without doubt, Lost Chord Uprovide the best two hours of his month!”
