Celebrating 25 Years of Musical Joy with Lost Chord UK and Coach House Pianos
Date:Friday, 18th October 2024
Venue: Bösendorfer Hall, Coach House Pianos, London
Lost Chord UK marked its 25th anniversary with an unforgettable evening of music, reflection, and celebration at the prestigious Coach House Pianos. The event, attended by a distinguished audience of music lovers, artists, and special guests, was a spectacular showcase of music’s transformative power, particularly in the lives of those affected by dementia and other neurological conditions.
A Night of Musical Excellence
The night featured exceptional performances by the masterful pianist Gary Branch and the charismatic soprano Carla Maney, who together created a magical atmosphere with their moving renditions of classical and contemporary pieces. The programme included an eclectic mix of music, from John Rutter’s The Lord Bless You and Keep You to Puccini’s O mio babbino caro, offering something for every musical taste. A highlight of the evening was the world premiere of Five Settings of Francis Ledwidge, a song cycle composed by the acclaimed Jeffrey Joseph, who was present to introduce his work, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
Lost Chord UK’s CEO Jean Collingwood’s Speech
During the event, Lost Chord UK’s CEO, Jean Collingwood, delivered a heartfelt speech celebrating the charity’s 25 years of service. She expressed deep gratitude to Coach House Pianos for their support, reflecting on the charity’s mission to bring joy, connection, and comfort through music. “Music has the power to open doors that words cannot,” Jean said. “It brings back memories, evokes emotions, and can transform lives, especially for those living with dementia. Tonight, we celebrate not just our past but our future as we work together to continue sharing this musical magic.”
A Vision for the Future
Lost Chord UK’s partnership with Coach House Pianos signals an exciting new chapter for the charity. Together, they are committed to ensuring that every care home working with Lost Chord UK has access to a working piano, empowering more people to experience the therapeutic benefits of music. As Jean emphasised in her speech, “More pianos, more music, more lives transformed—that’s our vision.”
A Memorable Night to Remember
The evening was brought to a close by Lost Chord UK’s Chairman, Benjamin Frith, who thanked the performers, guests, and partners for their unwavering support. “It’s because of you that we’ve been able to touch so many lives with the gift of music, and we look forward to many more years of making a difference,” he said.
This 25th-anniversary event was a true celebration of Lost Chord UK’s impact over the years, and an inspiring look forward to the future, where music will continue to be a force for healing and connection.
