Helping Lost Chord UK Dementia Charity
Dedicated Volunteers
At Lost Chord, we are dependent on volunteers to help with:
Concerts in homes – Helping the residents engage in music sessions.
Office support – Admin support for the office, a few hours a week.
Social Media – Helping keep our web activities up to date.
Fundraising – Helping us raise funds to take more homes off our growing waiting list.
“For the right person this is extremely rewarding work with lots of variety. You will not fail to be moved by the impact that music can have on individuals in the different stages of dementia.” Volunteer from Whiston Hall Nursing Home
In the latter part of 2003, we appointed our first five volunteers to visit homes and assist the musicians in their efforts to stimulate responses from people with dementia and other residents. We are delighted that in just the last year, the number of volunteers has grown to well over fifty, however, there is always a need for more.
You may even want to volunteer in the office or collect and count the contents of Lost Chord collection tins.
If you feel you could help to make a difference to the lives of people with dementia in residential homes throughout the Lost Chord scheme or would like further information on how you could contribute, please don’t hesitate to contact us. You do not need to be musical or have any particular background, although we do ask that you have a Criminal Records Bureau (DBS) check.
Fundraising
To be able to meet the growing demand for our concerts, Lost Chord has to continually raise funds to generate income. We have a small staff team and the majority of our income goes directly to providing concerts to people with dementia.
Collection Tins
We desperately need people to take out collection tins to shops in their local area and maintain them, letting people know how much has been collected.
