The Duke of Gloucester visits Lost Chord at Broomgrove Nursing Home in Sheffield
The Duke of Gloucester visited Broomgrove Nursing Home in Sheffield – accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire Andrew Coombe to see Lost Chord in action. International Flautist Clare Langan and pianist Maria King provided a full programme of classical and popular favourites, assisted by volunteer Clare Keen.
“We were delighted to be able to show the Duke just how great an impact music can have on the lives of people living with dementia. The programme was typical and as ever we received a wonderful response from every one of the residents’ who were particularly amused by the demonstration of the can can by the musicians who roped me in to join them! The Duke seemed just as amused!
‘The Duke was extremely interested in what we did, its origins and success over the last 17 years. Clare Langan has performed to Royalty before, but was delighted to contribute to this extra special performance.”
