On Sunday 19th February we had an incredible night of music making with a phenomenal amount of money raised: £320! This will make a difference to the lives of people living with dementia.
Lost Chord UK have launched a whole new programme of events for 2023, featuring its team of professional musicians, aimed at taking its work out to an even wider audience, with everything from singalong sessions in community venues around the country to bespoke online one-to-one experiences for people who are no longer able to leave their beds.
When Simon Davies of South Yorkshire Police Band heard about the charity’s plans for growth he suggested straight away that proceeds from their February 19 event at the Niagara Centre in Hillsborough should be donated to Lost Chord UK.
Last Sunday nights test piece preview was a great success and raised £320 for the Lost Chord UK charity. Oughtibridge Brass Band, Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band, Barnsley Brass, South Yorkshire Police Band and Yorkshire Imperial Band performed their Area test pieces. Sandy Smith, Composer & Arranger for Brass Music adjudicated and gave much wise feedback to appreciative musicians, who also left with a broadcast standard recording of their performance.
Many thanks to From The Bandroom for recording the event, which will soon be available. Thanks to Niagara Sports & Social Club for hosting this wonderful event. Also, thanks for the excellent photography courtesy of David Gordon.
