Family tribute to Maureen Ring who attended LCUK interactive music sessions

Jo Roebuck and her sister Karen attended the Choir of Hope Celebration Concert at St Gerard’s Church.

The cheque presentation was in tribute to their Mum, Maureen Ring who used to attend Lost Chord music sessions at Ravenfield Parish hall. Also pictured: the Mayor & his wife, Fr Desmind Sexton Parish Priest at St Gerard’s and LCUK Trustee, Antoune.

Joe shares a lovely memory… “Last Christmas whilst we were crafting and listening to a Christmas CD at home; Mum looked like she wanted to sing, but was confused by the tune and words. I turned the CD off and started to sing Jingle Bells to her… I really could not believe it when she joined in – we both sang it all the way through twice!

Nervously, I reached out to Lost Chord and arranged to come to the first session at Ravenfield. It was fabulous! We were welcomed on arrival and supported throughout the entire session. Every session we attended her face would light up and she’d smile and sing; watch and join in with actions or we might even have a little chair dance!

During the darkest days of Mum’s life, music was a way for us to reach and be with her. For Mum the music brought both energy and joy, was a reassuring comfort and finally aided a peaceful rest. Thank you for supporting us and providing us with such happy memories of Mum xxx.”
